Has it really been that long?
Today I was talking to someone who is coming to visit me and the fact is the person in question is traveling a great distance (from Europe) to visit so I’m doing that preliminary work that is necessary if one wants to be a good host. While this involves a tremendous effort on my part making my space at least presentable it also entails planning out an itinerary and also stocking some creature comforts just to ease the transition for another person.
And in the course of the conversation, we got to talking about travel.
There was a period in my life when I traveled quite a bit. I traveled all over the United States and also down to the Caribbean and Europe. I found for the most part I had quite a bit of fun and certainly looking back I have glossed over the bumpy spots with a hazy memory to make the trips even better than they actually were.
Trips are always an adventure for me and I really did like travel but I haven't done much of it in a long time.
So, I was asked when the last time I took a trip was and I know I’ve gone on one or two overnight jaunts but I really had to give it some thought and I realized probably the last trip I took was with Madame X to pass New Year down in Key West.
If you haven’t been to Key West (and I haven’t in a long time) it (was) a wonderful place although it had gotten built up quite a bit since the first time I had gone down and that was a bit to its detriment and I can only imagine since it has gotten even more built up.
When was that trip?
I think it was New Year 2004, SEVEN YEARS AGO! What the hell happened? Where did the time go? SEVEN YEARS, in the blink of an eye!
Just another thing I have to work on.
